Eastern Gray Squirrel

Whether you love them or hate them, or see them as cute fuzzy rodents or horrible tree rats, the Eastern Gray Squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis) is resourceful resilient mammal that will clean out your birdfeeders in a heartbeat if you don't watch out. Native to the eastern United States, squirrels prefer forested habitats because of their normal diet of acorns, hickory nuts, and walnuts. They make large round nests of dead leaves and twigs high in the branches of mature hardwood trees.
